3 for 3!!!!!

….ok you can stop your applause.

Well I had plans to wake up for 5:30 am spin class but my body had other plans. I woke up at 3 and barfed twice. Let me just says, throwing up kale…is freaking disgusting. Needless to say I was NOT in the mood to go torture myself two and half hours later. I let the ol’ belly settle and decided to do yoga on my comcast on demand instead (it’s pretty much all ashtanga Yoga which I like much more than hatha or bikram) HOLY GUACAMOLE…that was no joke. At times in certain poses, my heartrate was in the 140 and 150s. I tried to do some of the level 2 moves but stuck mostly with the easier ones since I am no yogi. I will definitely be doing this one again! Doing it made me see how unflexible and unbalanced I am.

At least I can pretend to look like a yogi standing up. Any kind of pose with leg lifting and I look like cripple…

My day was looooong and boring.

It consisted of this:

sitting outside of work trying to freckle my legs.

It was a very dull day with only one client. Wednesdays are always slow…today was no exception.

I like wearing my hair like this…no muss no fuss.

After work, I was bored and decided to bake!

How cute are these measuring cups my mom got me for xmas???!?!?!

SO SO SO CUTE! I looooved russian dolls as a little kid!

These were NOT the meringues I dreamed they would be. The vanilla was way too strong in my opinion. Perhaps its for the best because if they tasted like these I would eat all of them. The grocery store doesnt have anymore of those meringues and I am trying to just accept it…but my addiction is strong.

After trying my meringues and being annoyed by their non-deliciousness, I watered the garden since today is the first day it hasn’t rained and being in direct sunlight, a lot of them get pissy very easily.

Any ideas what kind of annuals I should plant for the summer once my  spring annuals go RIP on me????

After we tended to the garden, Roxy and I went for a walk.

I run by these honeysuckle a lot and I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing they smell. The smells of summer always floor me. This morning I went outside and it was the perfect mix of cut grass and flowers and warm weather. Its hard to describe but Im sure you get the idea.

Dinner was easy: Poblano, Black Bean, and  Mango Quesdillas.

YUM!

Grateful 5:

1. Not being busy at work makes me appreciate the days I am busy. My slow days are getting fewer and fewer but it always reminds me that when I am crazy-ass busy with no time for lunch…at least I am busy!

2. Having an awesome chiropractor. He’s so positive, so sweet, and always giving me great advice about any number of things. We had a discussion about me using soymilk in my green smoothies…and as usual, I will be following his advice and switching to just hemp milk with whey powder.

3. I get to run tomorrow…Im excited!

4.  Getting back some $$$ from my taxes.

5. Finding  balance/moderation in my food journaling and how seriously I take it.

I’m so happy you’re updating. You look gorgeous – your ink is making me swoon a little. When I walk to work I pass by honeysuckle and then a donut bakery – I can never decide which smell is my favorite.

    xo!

You’re a trooper for doing Asthanga! It’s too contortionist for me. Have you seen the documentary called Ashtanga NY? It made me want to take it up, and never every do it all in one.
Do you suck the juice out of honeysuckle? I loved that when I was little.
Also in response to your last post, he ended up making skirt steak sandwiches with an avocado spread. Not bad! Chicken and dumplings are amazing, but I can only handle food that thick and rich on an occasional basis. And by occasional I mean all winter long, when I’m cold and need comfort food.

I asked if you did yoga because I thought it might help with some of your aches. I am obsessed with Rod Stryker right now, that man does wonders for me. See if you can find any of his videos. I know you said it’s hard for you to get your head to shut up. A few minutes into my video and I can’t even recognize that there is still life going on around me, outside of my little bubble. All part of my plan to become a master meditator :)

PS, I was going to say plant some celosia, they’re my favorite annual, but I spotted them in some of your pots a couple posts ago.
PPS, your body looks amazing, beautiful, and absolutely perfect in your yoga picture. I love love love pictures of women doing yoga. In a completely non-lesbian appreciation for a woman’s body kind of way. Look at this picture: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_sd8jn3T1ywI/S-i5-qNVOFI/AAAAAAAAnsE/G8FJodU0GHI/s1600/IMG_3170.JPG I stared at it for an hour.

I love love, love Matryoshka dolls! I have been collecting them for a while now and even collect mere”parts” of them – you can see some of them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/letsgetdecadent/3579161227/sizes/l/

So funny…I was just writing a post about how much I love summer and it’s all inspired by the smell of honeysuckle. Are you and I kindred spirits?

I love those Matryoshka doll measuring cups, best gift! And I know all too well what you mean about a taste addiction. I went on a search for the perfect coconut cake recipe because I tried a sample of a $40 cake at Honey Baked Ham. I’m still without.

OH and Webber’s has a big 50% off sale the weekend of July 4th…you could get some goodies for your garden for super cheap then!

I love summer. Its thundering here which means summer storm which I ADORE!!! I could fall asleep to those every night!
Honey Baked Ham has ridiculously good cakes but for 40 bucks…that cake better do my laundry too!
    Ohhh where is Webbers???

  6. Genevieve Says:

They’re so simple and yet each one is so different and endearing! I had one just like your red lady when I was little!

I think because Ashthanga/”power yoga” is because its more of a physical challenge where as when I do hatha yoga, I cant relax and be “zen” which means I spend the whole class obsessing over why I am not zen!
I havent sucked the juice out lately but I did with some I found in the woods behind matt’s house awhile ago. Its like a little treat!
Michael’s meal sounds AWESOME. I love avocado more than almost any other fruit.
I def. think yoga would be helpful to me. Im constantly tight because I am leaning over people and because I am me and totally stressed over dumb crap all day. I will definitely check him out!!!!!
I adore my celosia. I have a pot of them and more in the garden. They’re like a weird underwater plant that decided to move onto land.
    thank you<3
ps. I would do yoga every day if I could look like that and be THAT flexible!!!

  8. Genevieve Says:

Hmmmmm is it wrong if I say Id go with the donut bakery? My boss brings in a few donuts EVERY saturday and it kills me that I cant eat one…or all of them.
All your entries on quinoa are making me want to try it out. My chiro made it for us but I havent had it since then. Best recipe to start with?

  9. Amber Says:

Look at you with the flexible shoulders! I wish I could get a reverse namaste easily!

  10. Genevieve Says:

Ellen says Im double jointed by how I put my arms on the spin bike? I can pop my right shoulder blade out really weird too. If only I was flexible on the bottom. I cant ever straighten my legs when doing certain exercise :(

I’ve been doing a beginner yoga class for the past 5 weeks. Class one i wanted to cry. It’s getting better (aside from the instructor being way too touchy-feely when i have my eyes closed).

most important question of the day: where did your mom find those measuring cups?!?! i want them!!!
